Heaven Sent
The good folks at Digital Heaven appear to have been busy. Earlier this week they announced 2 new plug-ins for FCP, DHRetroTV and DHDream, as well as an update to their VideoSpace widget. If that was not enough they also posted the first episode of their new monthly “Hot Tips” video podcast.
With DH_RetroTV you can easily mimic the effect of old cathode ray televisions. The plug-in features 3 customisable behaviours, “Switch On”, “Channel Change”, and “Switch Off”. Depending on the mode you’re working with you can adjust the amount of “picture roll”, “wiggliness”, and “noiseiness” [sic].
The whimsical DH_Dream will instantly maximise the cheese factor of your projects. Complete with harp glissando the “classic” wavy transition will mean you’ll never have to fear those tight spots in the narrative again!
The new version of their free VideoSpace widget includes settings for the latest IMX and XDCAM-HD codecs. You can also now calculate a duration of up to 999 hours 59 minutes 59 seconds.
Episode 1 (QT movie) of the Digital Heaven podcast is a great complement to Estelle McGechie’s recent “Speed Change” tutorial. Martin Baker covers similar territory, but adds a couple of new twists and variations that will further expand your knowledge of FCP.
