Not that our appetites needing whetting ahead of NAB, but today Apple added the much-anticipated 8-core Mac Pro to the existing line of professional desktop systems.

The new high-end Mac Pro features 2 quad-core Intel Xeon 5300 series, “Clovertown” processors.

With Apple’s new “33 million” possible configurations, it’s difficult to say exactly what a new system will cost, but from a “base” 266GHz Dual-Core model, two 3.0GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon processors increase the cost by CDN$1797.

I’ll update this post as more details become available.

UPDATE 13 April 2007: Over a week has passed and I still can’t find an official press release on the Apple web site!
