Firestore FS-100
Courtesy of Focus Enhancements

Following on from a recent discussion in the comments about the reliability of tapeless video workflows, Josh Oakhurst has picked up a discussion about recurring issues with the FireStore FS-100 HD recorder. Apparently there have been numerous reports of early adopters experiencing drop-outs and unreliable performance. Focus Enhancements have responded with a Firmware update to address an issue with the Firewire bridge chip configuration. It’s available for download from their web site and is recommended for all users regardless of whether they have encountered problems or not.

I knew it! :-). I’ve been a big fan of FireStore in terms of its existence, but always hesistant about its performance. But also good to see their keeping on their toes about getting some fresh updates available. I’d still personally give it more R&D time before getting one.

cheers.
