The recent KB document, “Final Cut Pro: Ethernet network volumes should not be used for capture or playback”, addresses the fundamental issue of data transfer and media drives. Today’s Ethernet standards are just not equipped to support sustained transfer of even the smallest, least demanding video formats. This is paramount when you’re evaluating storage solutions as you need to ensure that the data rate matches or betters your transfer requirements to prevent dropped frames.
