The recent KB document, “Final Cut Pro 5.1.2: Some third-party QuickTime components may prevent Final Cut Pro from starting”, explains a potential conflict between the most recent version of FCP and additional software—plugins or codecs—you may have installed. To troubleshoot the issue, the article recommends you temporarily move such third-party components to a different location on your hard drive and re-launch FCP to confirm whether the issue has been resolved.
