Quitting Time

While we’re preparing to welcome Wes Plate from Automatic Duck to tomorrow’s VFCPUG meeting, it might be worth noting that Apple recently posted a support document, “Final Cut Pro: Unexpected Quit with P2 import”. The article identifies a conflict between P2 and older versions of Automatic Duck Pro Export FCP. The solution involves updating your Automatic Duck software to version 3.05.

The P2 Import, in any sense, seems a little finicky to me. From personal experience and reading the forums it just seems like something that is at least partially still in development. I would recommend people constantly keep their software up to date, if possible, if dealing with the P2 workflow.

And this Automatic Duck posting just further shows the significance of integration of third party items with FCP. With such deep integration clearly you need to be on your toes with all of the extras you pack into your system. While I’m sure it helps with the performance of things inside the NLE, it does require us to be more vigilant in matters to ensure optimum performance.

cheers.
