Martin Baker’s back with another Digital Heaven podcast to help you streamline your working practice in Final Cut Pro. This month’s Hot Tip demonstrates one of my favourite time-saving features—using the Playhead Sync Pop-Up Menu to automatically open clips from the Timeline in the Viewer. Anyone who’s carefully adjusted their settings only to wonder why they don’t see their changes reflected in the Canvas will know how helpful this is. Once you select Open from the menu every time your playhead moves over a new clip in the Timeline it will change the contents of the Viewer. The other great thing about this is that FCP keeps tabs consistent so you won’t have to click around to if all you want to do is modify motion parameters or adjust colour correction settings.
