If you’re having trouble launching FCP after updating to version 5.1.2 you may have stumbled onto a conflict introduced by subsequently installing Motion 2.1. According to the KB document, “Final Cut Pro 5.1.2 won’t open after installing Motion 2.1”, you need to install the Pro Apps Update 2006-02 or install Motion from the Motion installer disc rather than the FCS disc.
