Apple have published an article on their Pro site about Ed Burns and how he’s using Final Cut Studio to help keep budgets low on his features. He describes a climate in which the “specialized film companies” are more and more adverse to financing the production of a movie, preferring to “overspend to buy” the completed picture. Burns comments that FCS lends itself to supporting indie filmmakers in this position, “The big change is that on previous films we needed to go to an editing facility, where you pay to rent an Avid… But on this production we owned the Final Cut Pro station. You eliminate a big cost right there.”
