I just mentioned this over the weekend while I was stationed at the Apple booth… and here it is. Apple have bought “all Silicon Color technology and intellectual property, including FinalTouch”! Back in January I made note that Roland Wood had referred to FinalTouch HD as a “Pro App”. Interesting times.

I just heard about this too. Hopefully a good turn of events for both FCP and Final Touch. For FCP it will hopefully mean stronger finishing abilities. For FT I hope it means better communication between the two programs (specifically FT being able to tolerate any naming conventions, not just archaic ‘no symbols’ ones). Though if kept somewhat stand alone, I wonder if this would maybe create an avenue for a real Apple turnkey type system now (something more along the Avid lines, not the pseudo-turnkey’s that some companies try to sell right now)?
