Comeback
In a seemingly bold move Adobe have announced that the forthcoming version of the Production Studio Bundle will support Intel-based Macs! According to the official press release, the next versions of After Effects, Photoshop, and Illustrator will be Universal Binaries, while Premiere Pro, Encore, and Soundbooth will be Intel-specific.
I’d heard rumblings about Premiere returning to the Mac, but I’m still surprised it appears to be happening. If you can’t believe it either Adobe will be demonstrating their new applications at MWSF next week.
As for what this means for FCS, it’s hard to say. As I’ve commented before, I don’t know many people eager to dump FCP for Premiere, but a lot of folks express deep, deep feelings for AFX. My sense is a lot will depend on the features, performance, and how seamlessly the different tools integrate.

From what I’ve heard the new Adobe line is as well intergrated with each other as the various applications for FCS are. Adobe isn’t going to just fade into the night against Apple. They might be a little late on the draw, but I think for the Adobe faithful they are finally doing some really good things.
As for a draw to use Premiere Pro, like you said the obvious one is AE. But the other thing is that, from what I’ve heard, the lastest Premiere Pro is very FCP like in its handling. I haven’t had a chance to take a look at as I’m still on the road, but I’ve heard a few people make the comment about being FCP like. So while perhaps not “better” than FCP, Adobe may be making the transition for a FCP user to Adobe that much easier and/or tempting.
cheers.
