Vancouver-based BrightSide Technologies, makers of High Dynamic Range (HDR) displays, will be presenting their new codec, MPEG-HDR at SIGGRAPH 2006 (Booth 209). By utilising a new compression technique BrightSide say they are able to work with 1920 x 1080, 16-bit dynamic range video at data rates similar to existing MPEG files.
A while back I mentioned meeting with the fellows at BrightSide and described my first impressions of the spectacular demonstration. I’m not able to attend SIGGRAPH, but I will be intrigued to hear more about their latest development.
