Last week Panasonic and Sony announced yet another HD format. AVCHD, is based on the MPEG-4/H.264 standard and records Dolby Digital as well as PCM audio. The initial announcement states that AVCHD supports both 1080i and 720p, and that it is recorded onto “8cm DVD media”. However in a follow-up statement, Panasonic also announced development of an SD memory solution of AVCHD.
