Tools of the Trade
Larry Jordan stepped things up a notch with his final seminar date in Vancouver on Saturday. He began with a demonstration of HDV workflow in FCP 5 and an overview of video standards in both SD and HD formats. Following on from that he then took us on a tour of some of the other applications in FCS, with introductions to LiveType, Soundtrack Pro, and Compressor.
Those of you who know of Larry already understand that he’s a fountain of knowledge and information. From what I could see he did not disappoint the crowd who assembled to see him and audience participation was high all day—I believe there was some brisk trade on the DVD tutorial titles he brought along!
Despite the horrible cold I brought back with me from England, I had a thoroughly good time this weekend and really enjoyed meeting everyone at the different events.
For those of you who like the sound of this event you should let the folks at Larry Jordan & Associates know you’d like to see him this side of the border again soon. In the meantime, you should make a point of attending the next VFCPUG meeting as we often have interesting presentations and always provide time for a Q and A session. If you also haven’t yet checked out the Apple Pro Training courses at Emily Carr Institute, you have an opportunity to get some in-depth, hands-on training from Apple Certified Trainers (including yours truly).
And if you just can’t wait for Larry himself to return, there’s always his free newsletter, Edit Well, and the following interview from Peachpit to keep the cravings at bay.
