An Evening with Spike Lee, Vancouver, BC

Tickets go on sale tomorrow for An Evening with Spike Lee in Vancouver. He’ll be in town on 12 August at the Orpheum.

I’ve followed the ups and downs of Spike Lee’s career since She’s Gotta Have It (1986), which I saw at the tiny art house theatre I worked at in my late teens. I’m not enamoured of all of his films, but have strong affection for several. In fact my reward for making it through the semester and the last five days of FCP 200 will be to go and see The Inside Man (2006)!

UPDATE 12 August 2006: Sadly on arrival at the theatre I was greeted by a sign announcing that this evening’s event was cancelled due to “complications” with his travel arrangements. Very, very disappointing. The notice didn’t suggest the evening would be rescheduled—though I hope it is—rather it simply gave instructions on how to obtain a refund.
