Apple have published a new KB article, “DVD Studio Pro: QuickTime and Simulator display incorrect gamma for MPEG-2 HD DVD content”. According to the document, HD video may appear dark when played in QuickTime 7.x and DVD Studio Pro 4.x. The problem appears to exist within the software and the article states the shift will not be present when viewed with a set-top player.
