Emily Carr Institute is very pleased to be able to announce that Senior Apple Trainer, Matt Geller, from Meta Media Technologies, will be the guest trainer for our forthcoming Shake course in our new MacBook Pro facility. This is a rare opportunity to learn from one of the most experienced Apple Trainers in the world and if you’ve been looking to gain some experience with Apple’s premiere compositing application, this would be one to embrace before the class sells out.
This intensive, 5-day hands-on course covers the key features of the application, from the node tree interface, through colour correction tools, tracking, and keying, to working with Shake via the Command Line.
The fee for the course is $1450+GST, which includes the official Apple Pro Training Series: Shake 4 textbook and the certification exam.
If you contact me and sign-up through VFCPUG you’ll receive a 10% discount on the course.

Does Geller have any insight into “Shake 5”? Shake is getting a big shake up, no pun intended, and just curious if he has any knowledge as to what we’ll see with the application (I call it Shake 5, but I know it may very well come under a new name at the time of release).
cheers.
You’re so funny about these things Matt-anybody who does know is not going to say!
As far as I can tell Apple have said their working on the “next generation” of the product. It will be something new. Motion, FxPlug, Core Animation, and, perhaps, the acquisition of Final Touch, may provide some hints as to the direction for those who want to speculate.
i am also curious about the new release as i found out yesterday.
And whats this new MacBook Pro facility? at the school?
If you follow the links in my previous comment you’ll get my expanded take on it all.
ECI has a new MacBook Pro lab to better accommodate the expanded roster Apple Pro Training courses we offer. This will enable us to be more flexible in what we can offer and we’re now in a position to deliver on-site training.
ECI…. Congrats on the MacBook Pro lab. Does this mean you will have only monitors (flat screen in the lab) anyone with a laptop and FCP 4 and up may attach in class to a second flat screen? recently I find most schools keep selling latest tools with training and (hardware/software) that most businesses wait and see to invest in (post beta n bugs etc.)
Looking for native .iff maya image file support inside FincalCutPro, as this is superior image file format in terms of file size to tif, jpeg2000, pict, psd and others… Any suggestions? john
I’m not sure what you mean about the labs, John?
For all the Apple Pro Training classes at ECI the systems and software are provided for the duration of the course.
You need FCP 5 to use the course material.
